“CAST” Your Ballot!

The Carolina Actors Studio Theatre asks everyone of voting age to CAST your ballot at the upcoming performance of “Dear George: Letters to the President” to be held in CAST’s Gilweit Performing Space Thursday October 28th at 8:00PM.

Based on letter to the President compiled from all 50 States, author Marcus Woollen has crafted a performance piece that has been included in the seasons of theatres in each of the 50 States. CAST (carolina actors studio theatre) had received exclusive rights to perform Dear George: Letters to the President in Charlotte partly due to the theatre’s reputation for cutting edge work and in part as a result of conversations between the author and managing artistic director Michael R. Simmons. “Our approach is Experiential,” said Simmons, “One that involves the audience from the time they enter the theatre until after they exit. Dear George will be much more than a reader’s theatre; it will be a theatrical experience.”

CAST has expanded both the seating capacity and arrangement just for this production. And don’t be surprised to see ballot booths, entry and exit polls and perhaps even a few “Presidents past and present” at this one night only performance. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at www.nccast.com, through the box office at 704-455-8542 or by cash or check at the door. CAST now has beer/wine and food services for patrons before and after the show and invites of all parties to remain after the show for what could be the hottest political debate in Charlotte and an opportunity for local voters to speak their minds. Director Simmons also suggests that “patrons bring their own letters – you never know what’s going to get read.”
