Upcoming Shows

June 20 - July 13

CAST (Carolina Actors Studio Theatre) closes its 2012-13 season with “Assassins,” a show with a score by Stephen Sondheim and book by John Weidman that gives new meaning to the phrase “killer musical.” Director Charles LaBorde helms the 21-member cast that will lead the audience through the stories of the inner lives of nine people who assassinated or attempted to assassinate a U.S. President.

One of Sondheim’s most interesting and memorable musicals, “Assassins” won the Tony Award (plus four others) and Drama Desk Award for Best Revival of a Musical.

Marty Gregory serves as the musical director.

Sondheim’s smart score and Weidman’s thought-provoking book examine the stories and motives of the more infamous assassins John Wilkes Booth, John Hinckley, Lee Harvey Oswald and Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme, along with the not-so-famous such as Leon Czolgosz, Charles Guiteau and Giuseppe Zangara.

CAST presents one of Sondheim’s most interesting and memorable musicals, winner of the Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for Best Revival of a Musical.

Performances are June 20-July 13, 2013. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets: $28 adult; $22 senior; $18 student. No late seating. This production contains strong language and multiple instances of simulated gunfire.
